Caffeine

Nugget of inspiration #12 - How much tea/coffee a day is ok to maximise your energy, without affecting your sleep?

My nugget of inspiration video covers:

  • How caffeine affects your body

  • How many cuppas is ok

  • The impact of caffeine on your sleep

  • What time to have caffeine

Plus, as mentioned in the video, here is an estimate of how much caffeine is in different drinks. When it comes to the hot drinks, a reminder this can vary massively depending on the type of coffee beans used, the variety of tea and the way these drinks are brewed, so these figures can only ever act as a rough guide.

I’d suggest keeping to < 300mg if you can.

  • Regular single shot coffee e.g., flat white/latte = 100mg

  • 1 cup instant coffee (average brew) = 60mg

  • Long black = 200mg (2 espresso shots)

  • 250ml can Red Bull = 80mg

  • 1 cup instant decaf coffee = 10-20mg

  • 1 cup plunger coffee (average brew) = 70-80mg

  • 1 cup green tea = 30mg

  • 1 cup black tea (average brew) = 50mg

  • 500ml can Monster original = 160mg

  • 355ml can cola = 35mg
