Check your poops!

Nope… that’s not a typo! 1 in 6 kiwis are affected by bowel cancer with over 3,000 people being diagnosed each year!! The rates of bowel cancer in this country are CRAZY, so we need to do what we can to reduce our risk of getting it AND be on the lookout for the signs and symptoms which are:

  • Blood in your stool – no this is NOT normal, please please get checked asap, as in book TODAY if you have had this problem!

  • Change of bowel motions/habits that come and go over several weeks

  • Anaemia

  • Severe persistent or periodic abdominal pain

  • A lump or mass in the abdomen

  • Tiredness and loss of weight for no obvious reason

The good news is that if caught early, bowel cancer can be very treatable.

I had the pleasure of speaking at an online event last week for Bowel Cancer New Zealand and we discussed some great things:

  • How to reduce your risk of bowel cancer

  • What is your microbiome

  • Probiotics and prebiotics

  • Managing IBS

How to combat late night snacking

How to get on track with healthy eating
