What’s the true impact of working from home
A much needed change of office scenery! Escaping the 4 walls of the basement for sun, build my own breakfast and decent decaf while I’m working on projects.
I’ve been reflecting on just how socially isolating and unnatural this whole working from home thing can be and the impact on your mental well-being.
We need eye contact with others to feel safe and it’s just not the same on a screen.
Non verbal communication, like body language and facial expressions are all part of the way we work as a species, but so much of this is lost when you are working in your kitchen or next to a washing pile.
Then comes the fact your work and non work life get fused and the people you live with get the worst parts of you because it’s all so intense.
And as for the kids, being told off every 5 minutes when they are home if you’re on a call or they bang/scream while you’re trying to finishing something important and scrape together the last few grams of brain power from your creatively depleted mind.
It’s sure is a crazy time to be alive. If you’re struggling, I feel for you and send good vibes your way.
I definitely need to get myself out a bit more on reflection and deal with the anxiety it causes just by being out.
